Boyfreind: long distance calling??? (please help!)?

boyfreind in Hawaii right now on Vacation and we both have verizon and i know its free verizon to verizon in the states but if he calls/text me or of i call/text him will i be charged??? How much?? and will it show up on phone bill?? and is there difference if we text or call?? PLEASE Answer all of the questions, Thank yo i really miss my boyfreind and i want to talk to him.. but i dont know if i can.. so help!
