Why is California better than Hawaii?

I see that almost everyone says California is way better than Hawaii, but why? No ones gives any real reasons, and since I'm moving to Hawaii in a few months. I'd really like some reasons why California is so preferred (not just the weather). If anyone has LIVED in both states, your input is the most relevant and I have never visited to CA or HI. THANK YOU!
