What's with the small dive bombing birds at traffic stop lights?

It's hard not to notice these deranged birds going straight for your vehicle and right before they kill themselves on your windshield they turn to almost hit the other 50 birds doing the same darn thing. Does anyone know why? Are they angry at the cars?
