Sunscreen lotion or sunscreen spray?

Im going to Hawaii this summer and this is my first time going to a beach so should I buy sunscreen lotion or spray..can you also recommend a good spray or lotion..im indian so my skin isnt that dark and it isnt that light so yea...thanks
