Planning a vacation (honeymoon/vow renewal) on the Virgin Islands?

The weather is always REALLY hot there. and there is no problem with hurricanes. And my aunt lives in St. Thomas and when ever i go to visit her every night you hear police and guns its actually a scary place to be. and btw dont say oh well that is in the bad part of town or what ever because the island is only like 40 miles or something like that.
