Where to live and go to grad school in Texas, Austin or Houston?

I'm a student who is about to graduate with my bachelors in journalism and I want to go to grad school. I'm a girl in my early twenties from Hawaii and I've only ever lived in one other state (Colorado for 2 years). I've met great people from Texas and that's the next place I want to live. I'm looking for cost of living, good night life, and good people. The state universities both seem great so the experience and lifestyle matter the most for me. Any help or descriptions of either city are much appreciated. Thank you!
